What are the 10 Best Foods for Energy?

“The doctor of the future will no longer treat the human frame with drugs, but rather will cure and prevent disease with nutrition.” ~ Thomas Edison

What We Eat Will Affect How We Feel

What we put into our bodies will affect how we feel and perform.

There are many wonderful foods and snacks out there. Similarly, there are many terrible foods and snacks out there.

Sadly, what tends to taste good is either expensive or unhealthy. Even though healthy foods may cost more, the result is worth it.

When we take time to invest in the food we eat, we will find ourselves not as prone to falling into moodiness or sluggish behavior due to too much sugar. Instead, we will find ourselves energized, giving the proper nutrition to our bodies.

Below we will take a look at the ten best foods for energy!

The 10 Best Foods for Energy

1. Nuts & Seeds

Nuts are a great way to combat fatigue!

According to the Mayo Clinic, regularly eating a healthy diet that includes nuts may:

  • Improve artery health
  • Reduce inflammation related to heart disease
  • Decrease the risk of blood clots, which can lead to heart attacks and strokes
  • Lower the risk of high blood pressure
  • Lower the risk of early death due to heart disease
  • Lower unhealthy cholesterol levels, specifically low-density lipoprotein (LDL or “bad”) cholesterol and triglycerides, which can clog arteries

2. Oranges

Oranges provide a great source of vitamin C.

Oranges have great fiber, which can help reduce high cholesterol and keep blood sugars in check. Not only this, but they are a great source of Thiamin (a vitamin that helps your body process other nutrients and turn food into energy).

3. Bananas

Bananas are a great source of natural sugar and are also rich in fiber.

Bananas contain three natural sugars (sucrose, glucose, and fructose). These three natural sugars help give you a fat and cholesterol-free source of energy.

4. Avocados

It has been noted that avocados may help sustain energy levels throughout the day.

Avocados contain fats that may increase energy levels and make fat-soluble nutrients more available to the body.

5. Eggs

Eggs are rich in oxygen-storing iron and are filled with high-quality protein – which helps preserve muscle mass.

6. Oatmeal

A bowl of cooked oatmeal breaks down to become energy that is slowly absorbed by your body throughout the day.

This helps keep your energy levels up because the oats are rich in melatonin and high in tryptophan (an essential amino acid that assists in developing Serotonin).

7. Yogurt

Yogurt comprises simple sugars (like lactose and galactose), which provide immediate energy when broken down.

8. Salmon

Alongside providing energy, salmon helps your body control inflammation, protects health and brain health, and is a great source of B vitamins.

The omega-3 fatty acids in salmon also boost serotonin levels and help protect your nervous system.

9. Brown Rice

According to the Kendall Reagan Nutrition Center, brown rice “is an excellent source of many nutrients, including fiber, manganese, selenium, magnesium, and B vitamins.”

When our body gets the right nutrition, this leads to more energy!

10. Dark Chocolate

According to Moorings Park, “One of the chemicals found in dark chocolate is called theobromine. Similar to caffeine, theobromine can cause a boost in energy and enhance your mood when consumed. In addition to theobromine, cocoa contains phenethylamine, which is a dopamine releasing chemical that can help with mood and attention.”

A Word From Our Founder, Steve Adams

Hey there! I'm Steve

I spent 20 years in high-pressure corporate banking, constantly traveling and neglecting my health. By 50, I was sleep-deprived, getting only 2-3 hours of sleep despite lying in bed for six hours. I suffered from acid reflux, IBS, cramping, constipation, anxiety, fatigue, and brain fog, affecting my performance and relationships.

Then I found a Functional Medicine Doctor

He conducted extensive testing on genetics, gut biome health, and hormones. He discovered several issues and created a personalized medical plan and coached me for a year on lifestyle changes. The results were transformative!

Today, I feel like a new person. I can engage in high-intensity interval training, weight lifting, and running without any symptoms. Inspired by this journey, I founded Tiger Medical Institute to help others achieve similar health transformations - to help you live healthier, better life!
